Randy Jackson is an approved instructor authorized by the North Carolina Department of Insurance. Randy currently teaches continuing education classes for insurance agents, adjusters and other interests in the North Carolina insurance industry.

These classes were designed by and taught by Randy Jackson at the Rendleman Company of Greensboro, North Carolina. These classes can be taught at your facility in full length or shorter verisons.

Surviving Encounters with Lightning

This 3-hour class will be taught as part of the continuing education program during the 2006 calendar year.

Course Content Includes:

  • Understanding the lightning threat.
  • Costs associated with the lightning risk.
  • Protecting facilities, employees, customers, family and property.
  • Myths about lightning that can get us into trouble.
  • Safety measures for a variety of circumstances.
  • Communicating the lightning safety message.

North Carolina's Catastrophic Weather Events

This is also a new 3-hour continuing education class for the 2006 calendar year.

Course Content Includes:

  • Significant weather events that have affected the tar-heel state.
  • Tropical Weather and its effect at the coast as well as inland.
  • Winter Weather; effects on infrastructure and the average resident.
  • Tornadoes and Severe Storms; the big outbreaks.
  • Human Loss/Economic Loss.
  • What can we do to lesson the effects of these events in the future.

Classes awaiting approval of the Department of Insurance include:

  • Preparing for the 2006 Hurricane Season.

In 2005 Jackson taught the following classes outlined below.  These class sessions can be presented to groups outside the insurance industry.

North Carolina Hurricane Class

This 3-hour class will look at the hurricane and tropical weather threat in North Carolina. The course will be taught in a multi-media format.

Course content includes:

  • North Carolina's hurricane history
  • Mitigation concerns
  • Tropical storms and Nor'easters
  • Geographical concerns
  • Safety information
  • Evacuation problems

Winter Weather Survival Guide

This 3-hour class will focus on the difficulty in forecasting and coping with winter weather. Winter weather can have a major impact on business, travel and daily living. The course is also taught in a multi-media format.

Course content includes:

  • Why the forecast goes wrong
  • Snow sleet and freezing rain
  • Problems specific to North Carolina
  • Travel trouble on the roadways
  • Handling your  vehicle
  • Safety information

Jackson also is the instructor for The Hazardous Weather Survival Guide is a 3-hour class that focuses on understanding hazardous weather events. Material is presented on hazard recognition, hazard mitigation, changing perceptions and safety issues. Course material is the latest available and is presented in a multi-media format.

  • Floods and Flash Floods
  • Tornadoes
  • Lightning
  • Hurricanes and Tropical Weather
  • Winter Weather
  • Temperature Extremes
  • Travel in Hazardous Weather

Randy has assisted in teaching the weather/meteorological aspects of the mandatory North Carolina Flood class..
 
Randy is currently teaching in conjunction with the Rendleman Company of Greensboro. The Rendleman Company has been providing continuing education classes for insurance interests for over 20 years.
