INTRODUCTION  FOR  RANDY JACKSON

Randy Jackson has been talking about the weather for over two decades. Randy is the owner and co-founder of the Hazardous Weather Preparedness Institute located in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Randy not only talks about the weather but has a true passion for it. For over 20 years Randy broadcast the nightly weather on a local Greensboro television station. Jackson is the staff meteorologist for FM Talk 101. 1 WZTK and can be heard delivering the forecast throughout the day.

Randy has the certification and seal of approval from the National Weather Association; and is an active member of the International Association of Broadcast Meteorologists. He is certified by the National Lightning Safety Institute as a Lightning Safety Professional. Jackson also completed workshop training from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s “Emergency Management Institute” in Community and Family Preparedness and Hurricane Planning.

Randy loves to teach. He has made numerous appearances to classrooms and groups across the southeast and has been a presenter at two International Hurricane Conferences. He served as a part-time instructor at the University of North Carolina Greensboro and was a member of the Advancement Council for the Department of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University.

At present Randy is an approved instructor by the North Carolina Department of Insurance and teaches continuing education classes for the Rendleman Company of Greensboro. Randy developed and teaches:

  • North Carolina Hurricanes
  • The Dangers of Winter Weather
  • Lightning Safety.
  • North Carolina's Extreme Weather Events.
  • 2007 classes awaiting approval are Coastal Storms and Nor' Easters - North Carolina Tornadoes - and Hurricane Season 2007.

    Randy is the author of “Get Ready for Hazardous Weather”, a book designed for school children that teachers about severe weather through puzzles and games. He also co-authored the “Tropical Weather Tracking Book”.

  • Most of all, Randy is a lively and stimulating speaker who can talk on a wide range of topics. His knowledge and passion for the weather is unmistakable.
