Emergency Preparedness
Weather emergencies do not discriminate as to who they will affect, when they
will occur and what the outcome will be. It is important that we practice good
emergency preparedness techniques at home, work, while on vacation, or
participating in our favorite recreational events.
Did you know?
- Almost 30 of every 100 lightning deaths and
injuries occur in open fields or recreational settings.
- Tornadoes can occur year-round, and at any
time of day or night.
- Each one-foot of water displaces about 1500
pounds of your vehicles weight when driving through water or flooded areas.
- An emergency supply kit can be one of the
most important things your family puts together.
HWPI emergency preparedness
programs can be
custom developed for your particular area of concern or situation.
We emphasize:
- Preparedness planning for the workplace
- The home environment
- Recreational settings
- While traveling
- Educating our children and older adults in
recognizing serious events and taking proper action.
We recommend:
- Our H.E.L.P.
program, now available for both residential and work environments
- Weather radios
in the home and office
- Development of an emergency supply kit for
your home and auto
- Yearly testing of your home and business
